My tongue-in-cheek anti-Persephone-poem poem “Machine Guns Loaded with Pomegranate Seeds” appeared today at Strange Horizons. My thanks to Sonya Taaffe for giving this piece a home. My thanks also to Amal El-Mohtar for this delightful Twitter review:

I was confused by "grunts of Hades" as in Hades is grunting behind the sandbags rather than his minions. Threw me off a bit! I like your poem. I have friends who feel closest to Persephone if they had to pick a Greek goddess or demi-goddess.

Hee! I think a lot of poets relate to Persephone. A lot of poets.

I presume you figured out that "grunts" meant "soldiers"?
